The brass embedding wheel has a groove for the wire to run in holding it much more securely.  On either side of the groove, are small "grippers", which embed the wire much better. 

This frame grip has been around for decades and is still the best tool for getting out those tight, glued up frames.  Smooth molded aluminum with spring action.  It clamps the frame snugly for easy removal.
