Bees need drone comb to be healthy. These frames are effectively used to increase your mating success for queen rearing. However, their best use is for mite control. Mites prefer drone cells due to their larger size and the longer time that drones are in capped cells. You can decrease your mite levels by allowing the queen to lay up these frames. When capped, freeze them to kill mites and replace for the bees to clean out.
